The Thousand Oaks Boulevard Specific Plan is a lengthy document setting out the vision and guidelines for change along the boulevard. Cities have development guidelines – a rulebook if you will – for how businesses and buildings can look.

The major changes in the Specific Plan make the boulevard more pedestrian-friendly. They create wider sidewalks, parking in the back of buildings and allow for outdoor dining. The city will be creating bike paths for cyclists.

The Specific Plan has been created with great care. It will keep Thousand Oaks looking like Thousand Oaks. It respects the city’s love of oak trees and it keeps the size of buildings in scale with their surroundings. There will be no high-rises.
