The Thousand Oaks Boulevard Specific Plan is in the hands of a company that is conducting an environmental impact review.

An EIR is an important step. An independent group studies the “what ifs.” What if the plan becomes a reality: What will the effect be water usage, energy usage, police and fire protection, air quality and a whole host of impacts.

This impartial study is expected to be completed and returned to the City of Thousand Oaks by the fall of 2010.

Then a series of public hearings will be held. Citizens will be given the opportunity to read the EIR and then come to a public meeting to comment on the plan and suggest revisions or voice their approval.

Then the plan will move to the city council where citizen voices again may be heard.

Finally, the council will take a vote on the plan.
